*iOS 4.0 Tested*
2010 PinPoint Lightning™ – features the only application with live lightning strikes* and APNS push notifications! Stay alerted to the latest lightning strikes near your geo-located position with up-to-the-moment push notifications!
Personal safety is the number one priority when lightning strikes nearby. Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast, golfer, motorcyclist, pilot or soccer coach - stay alerted to the latest lightning strikes in your area with 2010 PinPoint Lightning, the first and ONLY application to register live* cloud to ground lightning strikes to within 30 miles of your geo-located position.
2010 PinPoint Lightning uses patent-pending technology to show you the time and distance of the latest lightning strike from your current location. View the street-level location of the latest lightning strike – for example – “Lightning Strike, 1200 Main Street, 2 miles NW from Your Location at 3:03 PM.” Zoom to the national view to locate active radar in the USA. Rotate the phone horizontally to view FULL-SCREEN radar maps.
* Lightning strike data is available ONLY for USA and Canada. (No lightning data for Alaska or Hawaii). International cities are not supported by our lightning detection network. Lightning data for Canada is provided by Environment Canada.
* Lightning strike alerts will notify the user based a 30 mile alert radius from the user’s geo-located position. US patent pending.
* This application follows the user’s up-to -the minute GPS position to ensure that lightning alerts are sent to the user’s location, wherever that may be. However, when the user turns off the application, it will record the last known GPS position of the user when the app was open and will send APNS alerts for that location when the app is off. As soon as the user opens the application again it will immediately geo-locate the user and update the APNS server to send alerts to that GPS position.
* Live lightning strikes are not guaranteed - THE NATIONAL LIGHTNING DETECTION NETWORK (“NLDN”) PROVIDES THE LIGHTNING STRIKE DATA TO THE APPLICATION PROVIDER FOR USE IN THE APPLICATION. SUCH NLDN DATA MAY AT TIMES NOT BE AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH NOTICES FROM THE APPLICATION BECAUSE OF TECHNICAL OUTAGES OR UNAVAILABILITY OF THE SERVICE, COMMUNICATIONS OR INTERNET OUTAGES OR DELAYS, OR OTHER CONDITIONS BEYOND THE CONTROL OR NLDN AND/OR APPLICATION PROVIDER. THE TIMELY AVAILABILITY OF NOTICES FROM THE APPLICATION IS NOT GUARANTEED.
* Whenever a lightning alert is received, users should immediately move to a safe location. Users of this application are responsible for their own personal safety.
* Add up to 10 cities to view lightning strike data. However, lighting alerts will only be sent to the user’s geo-located position.
NOTE ON PRICING:
Lightning data services are very expensive and require a great deal of monitoring and maintenance. To be able to continue to provide our PinPoint Lightning service we have to sell our product at a price that allows us to cover our costs. We hope that you understand that this is necessary otherwise we could not afford to provide this level of quality and service.
