Alcohol Units Calculator lets you quickly and easily determine the units you are consuming. This App is not restricted in the amounts that can be entered unlike other similar Apps. The values are entered using a decimal number pad so you are not restricted by the values specified on picker wheels.
You can enter ANY amounts using US fl Ozs, millilitres, centilitres, litres, UK pints.
You can also enter ANY alcohol percentage as ABW (Alcohol by weight) or ABV (Alcohol by Volume).
You can also enter units for other days. So if you forget to add units for a day then just use the month view to go to that day and add units to it.
Just enter the percentage alcohol, the volume of the drink and the number of drinks and the calculator will immediately show you how many alcoholic units the drink has.
You can then select to add those units to the units you have consumed for the day. It is a great way to monitor the amount of units you are having on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. It can be quite enlightening.
The main view is the Graph that shows:
A green line that is the daily units limit set in the Preferences.
The red bars show the number of units consumed for each day.
The yellow line shows a rolling average of the number of units consumed over the last 10 days for each day.
To check the number of units in a drink just select the Today's Drinks button.
To dismiss the keyboard just touch the textfield that you were entering the information for.
Using this App you can also track your units consumption for the days, weeks and months.
When you have determined the units in the drink then just select Add Units button and the units for that drink will be added to the total for the selected day.
The graph will be changed to show this new information. The new rolling average will be changed to reflect the additional units.
This will show you how you are doing against your daily limit. The daily limit can be set in the Preferences. This is the recommended healthy limit and is different in different countries.
On the Graph view you can also select the Months button and enter units for any day that month or move to other months to enter units for those days.
Swipe the Graph View left or right to show the Graph for other months.
In the UK the NHS recommends that: Men should not regularly drink more than three to four units of alcohol per day; Women should not regularly drink more than two to three units of alcohol per day.
There are five options for the volume so you can specify the volume by millilitres, centilitres, litres, UK pints and US fluid ounces.
The percentage alcohol can be entered as either ABV (Alcohol by Volume) or as ABW (Alcohol by Weight). This can be set on the Preferences Page.
Most alcohol percentages are ABV but, especially in the US, ABW is used. There is a significant difference in the resulting units so it is important to get this selection correct.
A drink that is 3.2% ABW is 4.0% ABV. ABW percentages are equivalent to higher ABV values so do not be fooled by the strength of drinks in the US.
Legal Disclaimer: Do not use this App as a guide to whether you can drive a car or not. This App is just for calculating and collating the number of units consumed.
How alcohol is metabolised by a person is different for all. All this App can do is tell you how many units are in a drink it cannot tell you whether, having consumed that drink, you are legally over the limit or not.
