SIDE EFFECT CHECK
- For health care professionals and patients.
ABOUT SIDE EFFECT CHECK
Side Effect Check gives you detailed drug-safety information as reported to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
HOW IT WORKS
If you suspect that a drug may have caused a particular side effect, simply enter the drug and the suspected side effect and SIDE EFFECT CHECK will systematically search the FDA's MedWatch (http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/default.htm) database for prior cases of your suspected side effect.
If there have been any such cases reported to MedWatch, SIDE EFFECT CHECK will provide you with the number of cases reported for your drug of interest.
LIMITATIONS OF MEDWATCH SAFETY DATA
Reports to MedWatch are voluntary and therefore may underrepresent the total number of adverse events that might be reported for a particular drug.
Reports to MedWatch are also unfiltered, and therefore a report associating a side effect with a particular drug does not necessarily establish a causal relationship between the drug and the side effect.
ALWAYS consult your doctor or healthcare specialist prior to any decision regarding any & all medications.
