The DianHua Dictionary Audio Module extends DianHua Dictionary with Mandarin pronunciations of over 16,000 Chinese words. By itself, the DianHua Dictionary Audio Module allows entry of words in Pinyin (pin1 yin1) format and plays the resulting audio, if available. Combined with DianHua Dictionary 2.0 or later, you may click on the audio icon from a dictionary entry to load the Audio Module
and hear the pronunciation.
Samples of the audio included in the DianHua Dictionary Audio Module may be found on the JSQ, LLC web site. As with the Number module in DianHua Dictionary, our friend Noah (a native Mandarin speaker) provides clear and precise Mandarin pronunciations. Unlike the Number module, syllables are not combined in software to pronounce words. For instance, even though "hao3" and "chi1" are both available, there is a separate recording for "hao3 chi1". We felt this would provide better practice in pronunciation and listening than a software-oriented approach.
