Underword allows you to manage subtitles in the SubRip (.srt) file format and import plain text as subtitles.
To unlock the full potential of Underword, select a video to show alongside the editor. If you can open the video in QuickTime, you can open it in Underword. The subtitles will be visualized in real time on top of it.
The timeline view allows you to resize and rearrange subtitles with intuitive gestures. Dragged subtitle boundaries automatically snap to the timeline cursor and at a distance of two empty frames to other subtitles. Menu commands let you set the start or the end of the currently selected subtitle to the position of the timeline cursor, which is in sync with the played video.
The list view allows you to precisely control all the subtitle attributes with manual text input. Toggle bold, italics and underline for the selected text range, or split the subtitle into two subtitles at the text cursor position.

• Removed the text encoding option when opening and saving documents. Documents are now saved with the text encoding detected on opening, or with UTF8 for new documents. If a document uses an encoding that is not recognized automatically by Underword or video players, please save it with a common encoding like UTF8 in TextEdit first.
• Fixed a crash that sometimes happened when opening documents or restoring previously opened documents on launch.
• Fixed an issue that caused the subtitle timestamps to change depending on the current time zone.
